Crescent Moon Childbirth Society is a community-based support for women and their families in the childbearing year.

Our team offers a full spectrum of support, including midwifery care, a breastfeeding clinic, childbirth education, drop-in clinics and information nights.

We strive to work in collaboration with the community to support families in their transition to incorporate a new baby into their lives, and offer our space for community groups with parallel mandates.

Crescent Moon Childbirth Society is now incorporated as a BC Society, and is in the process of becoming a Federal Charity. This will support us in our mandate to support birthing families with a more sustainable organization.  We offer two kinds of memberships; Family and Professional. To join, visit our membership page.

We also operate a store that offers breastfeeding and natural baby products, with ALL proceeds supporting our free and sliding scale programming. Please consider visiting our shop and supporting our Society.

We believe that...
* birth is normal, natural, and healthy

* the experience of birth profoundly affects women and their families

* women's inner wisdom guides them through birth

* women's confidence and ability to give birth is either enhanced or diminished by the care provider and place of birth

* women have a right to give birth free from routine intervention

* birth can safely take place in birth centers and at home

* childbirth education empowers women to make informed choices in health care, to assume responsibility for their health, and to trust their inner wisdom.

About the Visual Artist: Barbara Roden

With Sturdy Shoes is a series of 25 paintings celebrating motherhood and the inner strength of women. Artist Barbara Roden incorporates symbolism of colour, number, pattern and archetypes to create a visual language with which to express an appreciation for motherhood and the many inspirational and well-grounded women within our communities.
