What are the benefits to using water in labour?
There is evidence that immersion in water can LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE during labour. It is much easier to maintain ACTIVE BIRTHING POSITIONS in the gravity-reduced environment of the pool. Water SUPPORTS the mother during labour reducing the pressure during labour. Women have used water as a form of pain relief for hundreds of years. Warm water on the lower back (which is the area of the spinal cord that receives the nerves from the lower abdominal region) can reduce labour pain. Water can be used along side many other forms of pain relief such as the TENS.
An affordable option for deep immersion. The cocoon-like oval shape provides depth without excess weight or bulk.2 interior handles help you feel secure while changing postions or pushing. The built in vertical I-beams gives an incomparable firmness to the wall, while also acting as a fail safe mechanism in the event of puncture. La Bassine™ has been redesigned to be a little longer, with the new dimensions of 165cm x 135cm x 65cm(65" x 53" x 25"). Now eco-friendly, it is constructed of highly durable vinyl (0.42mm thick) that does not contain any phthalates, lead or cadmium. La Bassine™ is ethically manufactured and carbon neutral. Holds approx.110 gallons at 80% full.

Dimensions & Water Capacity:
The La Bassine Pool is oval shaped, 5'5" long, 4'5" wide, and 2'1"deep. The pool holds approximately 100 gallons of water and weighs around 900 pounds when filled.
Assembly & Disassembly:
To assemble the La Bassine Pool all that is required is to take it out of the bag and blow it up. Assembly only takes about 5 minutes. To disassemble, first drain the pool water, then remove the disposable liner and discard. Open the valves on the bottom and sides of the pool. Slowly and carefully press and fold until all the air is out, and the pool fits back into the carrying bag.
Rental Includes all necessary equipment:
The La Bassine pool with carrying bag, hose and faucet adapter, air pump, disposable liner (latex-free), and instruction manual. We provide free delivery and a short consultation to confirm set-up with your plumbing system. We are responsible for cleaning the pool.
Reserve your Birthing Pool today to ensure you get the dates you want. Once we receive the contract signed with payment, the pool will be held in your name for the 5 week rental period of your choosing. A deposit of $100 via credit card is required for all of our rentals. Payment by Mastercard or Visa is accepted.
The La Bassine Pool rental fee is $100 for five weeks, with extensions available at $20/week. We ask that you drop off the pool to our clinic in Crescent Beach within four days of your birth. If you would like us to pick-up the pool (in Langley, Surrey, White Rock), a fee of $15 will apply.
